The royal Castle in Leczyca became residence of Casimir the Great IN 1406. The castle is now museum and you can visit and enjoy the arms, the middle age dresses and also the panorama from the walls.
The Museum in Łęczyca exists from 1949 and it’s the one and only this kind of place in our administrative district. Its seat is the XIV century defensive castle which was built during the reign of King Kazimierz Wielki in the south-east border of this mediaeval city. Monumental Gothic building, which was visited by polish Kings: Władysław Jagiełło and Kazimierz Jagiellończyk, was rebuilt in the Renaissance style (“a new house“) in the second half of XVI century by Jan Lutomirski – the diplomat, treasurer and votary of reformation in Poland during the reign of Zygmunt August. The XIX century Prussian “powder-magazine” is the remainder of Polish Republic decline.
Interesting little castle/museum with exchibition about local archeology, history, folklore and legends (witches and devils) ;)
It would've been nice to see some English translations or literature for those not confident with Polish. However, I was lucky to be with someone who could translate the exhibitions for me, and it was an overall enjoyable experience!
Nice, small castle only 40mins or so from Łódź. Engr there for the knight tournament. Impressed by the craft stalls outside and the entertainment inside. A good day out for all the family.
I went to Lenchica on the bicycle to enjoy view of this beautiful castle. Nice place to see.
Small museum, nothing extraordinary, but nice display about local culture on the upper floor. View point on the tower.
