Location The Wielka Wieś Commune is located in the southern part of Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska and northwest of Krakow, directly bordering with it (ca. 15km from the centre). Characteristics of the Commune The Wielka Wieś Commune is a commune of suburban nature, with the area of 48.3 sq.km, inhabited by over 10,000 people, with the commune area divided into 12 villages (Bębło, Będkowice, Biały Kościół, Czajowice, Giebułtów, Modlnica, Modlniczka, Prądnik Korzkiewski, Szyce, Tomaszowice, Wielka Wieś and Wierzchowie). The seat of commune authorities is in Wielka Wieś. The Commune, formerly of farming nature, now changes its appearance, with new businesses opening and tourism developing. The adopted strategy of Commune Development takes into consideration various economic and geographical conditions, assuming that the southern part of the commune, due to its direct neighbourhood to Krakow, is a place for developing commercial areas, while the northern part, where the Ojcowski National Park lag and numerous Jura valleys are located, is a place for developing tourism.
