Big thank you to Polish people looking so well after graves of people who lost their lives in Poland! My grandfather's brother was reported missing in 1944. Only a few years ago we found out he died in 1944 near Warsaw. Now we found he might be in this cemetery. It is very important to us, all older generation for years were living not knowing what happened to him. Is he alive or not. Hoping he will knock the door or praying he is resting in peace. I am looking now through archive documents trying to find if he is there and after this pandemic will try to visit.

Interesting place showing respect to the people who died liberating Warsaw. Unfortunately not a lot of historic information. Like to know more.

This place, despite the feel of a park with some monuments is an actual cemetery with real graves. Which is why it escaped all various de-communization attempts by various Polish governments and continues to be maintained by the city and the Ministry of Culture. Thankfully vandalism attempts are also quite rare. The Soviet “liberation” of Poland is a controversial topic, but the Russians and Belorussians and others who died need a resting place and some respect, and this silent part is a great way to honor the fallen.
