As a result of the KFO’s activity, Krakow also obtained the long expected title of UNESCO City of Literature after three years of efforts in 2013. This has reinforced the position of Krakow as a centre of support of readership and Polish literature. Numerous literary campaigns (e.g., the Second Life of a Book, literary walks, etc.) and, most importantly, the Conrad Award for a debut writer introduced by a resolution of the Krakow City Council are proofs of this fact. However, the KFO’s activities are not reduced to festivals. Thanks to the ICE Kraków Congress Centre opened in 2014 and operated by the KFO, the Office can organise both cultural, artistic, business and scientific events under one roof.
