Excellent food, location and interiors. The atmosphere was lovely. So good in fact o came back. The service was really slow though, although very kind. What I did not get was why another waitress refuses to take the bill even though we asked and explained we were in a hurry - she would just make us wait for no reason - sounds like some stupid staff politics at play that do not fair the customer.

Oh that place makes me forget about my diet and go ahead with all the indulgence I could muster. There is a counter where you can buy both ice-cream as well as cakes and pastries to eat on the street or sculking at your home. It also houses a restaurant and coffee shop, which sometimes results in long lines of people queuing inside and guests at the tables observing their eager but tired faces. Portions are generous, both of ice-cream and other food but when in glass bowls the ice-cream seems to diminish in size but not in quality. Food quality is very good, fresh, mostly a modern Polish with Italian twist, favouring local produce and seasonal changes, which is great. The restaurant has a lovely patio where you can observe medieval housing and pigeons trying to eat under you legs. Always busy so make a reservation ahead.

The coffee and desserts very good, but the time I had to wait to be served with cake and coffee was way too long. There was only one waiter for 2 big rooms full of people and to ladies on the disk. When we tried to buy cake on the disk we were told that if we want to eat/drink in, we need to wait for waiter.

Poor service, 3rd grade cakes, good ice cream Cukiernia Sowa is a well-established chain of cafe bakeries in Poland. This one in Torun has a prime location and a nice ambience but the service is not good. The girl behind the counter was very unfriendly and not helpful. I got an apple pie that was just ok, and a chocolate flavored cake with nuts and plums that had a very artificial taste and a sponge like consistence. They were just 3rd grade run of the mill pastries, you can get better ones in a supermarket. On the plus side the Poppyseed cake was very good and the icecream at the cafe was delicious, the service was slow though... Overall: 2 out of 5 you'd expect a better service and a better quality from a place like that. Not recommended.
